We lost a beloved member of the Good Counsel community when the legendary Tom Kolar passed away on Sunday, March 27 at the age of 78. Tom was a member of the Good Counsel faculty for 53 years and inspired generations of Falcons.

Tom Kolar, a beloved member of Good Counsel’s faculty for 53 years, died on Saturday, March 27, aged 78.

Tom began his Good Counsel career in 1965. No teacher has served our community longer. Tom is revered as a mentor, educator, coach and friend. His passion for history and his commitment to social justice were the hallmarks of his teaching and central to who he was as a person.
For his work educating, enlightening and inspiring generations of Falcons, Tom received the Theodore James Ryken Award in 2013. In 2015, he became the first recipient of an honorary diploma from Good Counsel.

Scholarship:

Established by friends, family, and former students and colleagues of the late Tom Kolar, this scholarship provides financial assistance to an academically sound, current Good Counsel student with demonstrated financial need. The student should demonstrate their commitment to Good Counsel through involvement in athletics, performing arts, service, or extracurricular activities.
