Richard Seel

Richard Seel

For 45 years Rich Seel has taught English, coached, and mentored Good Counsel Falcons. He is currently the school’s longest-served faculty member, and the only remaining member of the faculty hired in the 1970s. In addition to being a beloved teacher, Rich coached freshman, JV, and varsity basketball from 1982-85 and varsity baseball. He served as the school’s athletic director from 1982-85. In 2019, a scholarship was created in Rich Seel’s name as a part of the effort at the Grand Celebration to endow four need-based scholarships honoring Rich and three other distinguished teachers including Pat Bates ‘70, Dick Burns, and Dennis Essig. When asked about the importance of philanthropy at Good Counsel, Rich said “Financial support for Good Counsel is, ultimately, an investment in Good Counsel’s future. Ten, twenty, and thirty years from now G.C. graduates will be major contributors to business, health, the arts, politics, and education. The future is always influenced by the present.”
