Madison J. Smith '25
To celebrate the life and legacy of Madison Smith ’25, her parents, Jimmy and Molly Smith, along with beloved family and friends, established the The Madison Jane Smith “Never Settle” Scholarship.
A lover of ducks, the color yellow, General Tso’s chicken, and her dog Wrigley, Maddie embraced being a part of the Good Counsel community. She was one of the youngest members of the varsity golf team, and one of the only females on the team. Maddie competed all through her chemotherapy treatments, battling for the WCAC championship just last year. She will be honored with being named captain of the team for what would have been her senior season. She also competed for the Good Counsel swimming team and would aid the team to the 2022-23 WCAC Championship.
Maddie will be recognized as a member of the National Honor Society, and dreamed of playing golf at Duke University and playing in the Masters.
The purpose of this Scholarship is to provide a four-year merit award to an incoming freshman who embodies the spirit of Madison. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a humble and generous spirit, preferably a student-athlete who has shown talent in golf, swim or another sport and has overcome adversity.
