Art Raimo

Art Raimo

Art Raimo, a long-time school president and former faculty member, had a tremendous impact on the Good Counsel community. The Arthur Raimo Endowed Scholarship, established in his legacy, is a merit award for a rising senior who has performed significant and meaningful community service over the course of their first three years at Good Counsel, as determined by Campus Ministry.

As the second president of GC, Art implemented major changes both internally and externally, all while passionately keeping the Xaverian Brothers’ values and teachings continuous and strong. During Art’s presidency, he restructured a more united Board of Directors and employed professional expertise and advice from the esteemed members. Mr. Raimo firmly believed that with the increasingly competitive climate of secondary education, it was imperative to create a more professional environment at Good Counsel.

Art’s legacy will continue through the success of every student who also exits the doors of this school. “I am optimistic that the students of Good Counsel will leave this school completely prepared for college and for life; and that they have their own sense of religion, spirituality, and appreciation for their Catholic faith,” said Art. Pondering a departing message to all Our Lady of Good Counsel students, Mr. Raimo quotes a verse from the Gospel of Luke, “And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and age, and grace with God and men.’ I pray that those who have the privilege of attending this wonderful school leave this institution knowing that Good Counsel can provide to all our students the lessons that Jesus learned as a child lost in the temple. That Good Counsel has helped them advance in wisdom—through our academics, and advance in age—guiding them in their journey from childhood to young adults, and advance in grace with God and men—providing a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to deepen their Catholic faith and spirituality. ”If they can leave with that, I can’t ask for anything more.”
